Feb, is an odd time to peak on "x". You'd want to do it in April-May. But maybe one or more of these guys still has more left?

By the crude measure of x Kobe caught LBJ in Feb but Wade passed them both? What would other somewhat more precise metrics show?

Kobe has been at his best since January. 'x' and other rates aren't cumulative, but specific to that month. It's more relevant within a player's season trajectory than it is to compare the players.

Since Jan, the Lakers have allowed 102.7 PPG, and Kobe has scored 32.2/36.
LeBron's 29.1 pts/36 are with Cavs opponents getting 89.6 PPG; so you could say:
- Kobe's Pts are inflated (relative) to LeBron's by a factor of 1027/896 = 1.146
- On the Lakers (or if Cle ran such that they gave up 103 ppg), LeBron would average 1.146*29.1 = 33.4 Pts/36 , for Feb/Mar.

This one adjustment adds 4.3 to LBJ's x number, and now they're not so close.

It's twice as much work to look all this up (team monthly splits), so I haven't.

I thought in an MVP thread that x or whatever would also be intended to help with the comparison between players. Pace or opponent scoring adjusted would be more work but also more helpful; but your call.

Can we have a new pool ? Things have changed a little bit, but votes are already given.

Despite some wavering, early APBRMetrics opinions closely matched MVP voters' actions.
Checking for more definitive MVP voting in recent seasons:
Code:
year    MVP          %share
2009   LeBron James   .969
2008   Kobe Bryant    .877
2007   Dirk Nowitzki  .882
2006   Steve Nash     .739
2005   Steve Nash     .839
2004   Kevin Garnett  .991

Congrats to LeBron. He had a special year. Nearly every metric available had him #1 (1 year adj. plus/minus, eWins, net plus/minus, PER, WARP, Win Shares, etc).

Nitpick - D Wade had #1 in 1 year adj. plus/minus. Lebron did have #1 in statistical plus/minus and 2 year adjusted.

Oh, I know .. I was just trying to be factual, not nitpick on purpose.
