I'm just wondering if there's any meaning in "backcourt possesions" or "frontcourt possesions" ?

Is only "team possesions" valuable for research ? Can subcategories, like backcourt, have possesions ?

You could maybe use Dean Oliver's method for calculating offensive possessions for individual players, and sum that up for backcourt and frontcourt players. See Basketball on Paper for the details.

Maybe Hollinger's Usage Rate could be used here as a simpler alternative? I guess offensive rebounds would have to be included, somehow.
