Hi all,
I just joined recently on the advice of some friends from Realgm. I'm already familiar with a lot of the basic work in this field, but definitely want to join the conversation.
I currently work as a field research assistant for an economics professor studying behavioral finance in developing countries...

Welcome. There are others from RealGM who post here (including myself -- I go by TheSecretWeapon over there). _________________ My blog
I've been reading the board for a couple of years, but only recently registered.
My primary focus is college basketball-- specifically the ACC (and UNC). I'm currently editing a 2007-08 UNC Preview Publication, and I'm trying to stuff as much advanced statistical data in there as possible (it will have +/- data, defensive box score data, some passing data that I charted, etc.).
Really enjoy reading the site, and especially the sharing of ideas and feedback that is provided when new techniques/methods are introduced.
Funny that I would make my first post two posts below a UNC fan! My main interest is also college basketball... but Duke in particular. I'm mostly interested in recording defensive data for Duke players for the year right now.
I had been reading the APBR Yahoo! Group e-mails for quite a long time, but lost contact when they moved here, since i was VERY busy at the time.
I am a basketball fan, and have a degree in engineering, so like the maths and statistics too. I suppose that's a good combination for loving a board like this one.
It's good to hear about people like Hollinger, Beech, Rosenbaum, Chaikin, Pelton, Küpfer, Farkas or Oliver again, just to name some that i remember from the old Yahoo! Groups forum.
Hope good basketball discussion is on his way.
Greetings to Kevin Pelton, who i think made such a user friendly web forum possible.
