Don't know how many people are already aware of this, but Ed Weiland of HoopsAnalyst has started posting his 2007 NBA Draft preview, listing the prospects by position like he does every year. I really like what he does in these previews, because he looks at what combination of college stats predicts NBA success, by position and by college class. To me, it's particularly interesting to see what qualities make a difference in the pros, and which prospects showed those qualities last year.

Anyway, just a link for those who didn't already know that there's a good stats-based draft analysis out there...

very nice writeups...

compare joakim noah's last two years at florida with tim duncan's final two seasons at wake forest. duncan played 37 min/g those two years, noah just 25 min/g, but on a per minute and per touch basis there's quite a few similarities...

I've been avidly reading these too! Because their site doesn't allow for comments, it's hard to guage who does or doesn't already know about it. I hope it's a lot of people who know about it because the writing and the analysis are excellent.

I agree, I started reading his draft coverage three years ago, and I always tind it to be some of the best draft analysis around. It's interesting where that sort of statisitical analysis is right (Paul Millsap) and where the scouts see something that the stats don't (LeMarcus Aldridge).

I agree that this is terrific draft analysis -- far better than the usual fare.
