Just curious as to which teams in the league are using stat consultants. Seattle is one obviously, but I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on who the other teams are that might be doing it (if any). I'm new to this board, so forgive me if this topic has been posted already in the past. Thanks.

Bob Bellotti is working for a few teams providing stats. I know one of them is Charlotte. I don't know who the others are.

Portland told me they have someone.

Dallas has Winston and Sagarin.

Denver has someone.

I know a little more than I can say, but I'm pretty sure that Dallas and Seattle have the most going on and the most integration with coaching.

Dan talked a little bit about what various front offices have done in this thread:

I had lunch with Daryl Morey (SVP of information for the Celtics - very bright and analytical guy) today and he told me that Cuban pays a fortune for WINVAL but the Mavericks don't really use it. Cuban gives suggestions from time to time, but the Mavericks are pretty much run by the Nelsons, who do their own thing.

Most teams have an in-house guy like Morey, or at least an assistant coach who's really interested in this stuff. Very few teams contract outside consultants.

More importantly, how does one go about acquiring such a job?
