Hi folks, if I can ask for you indulgence for a few moments....
Many of you know me as the founder of the APBR, and some of you are familiar with my original edition of The Compendium of Professional Basketball which was published in 1999. I just wanted to let everybody know that the second edition of my book is now available.
It lists at $34.95 on Amazon.com -
http://www.amazon.com/Compendium-Professional-Basketball-Second/dp/0964477491/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1264982418&sr=1-1
and for $30 with free shipping within the US through February 15 at the publisher's site (international orders can contact the publishers and they'll work out the shipping costs with you) -
http://www.xalerpress.com/cpb/index.html
There are also about 15-20 preview pages on the Xaler Press site (including the table of contents) for anyone who wants to look it over.
At any rate, I am pretty pleased with the new edition, I think it's a big improvement over the original one. Hopefully you'll all feel the same.

No lie, Robert Bradley did found APBR (of which APBR-analysis was an off-shoot, which then moved to this site). I've already pre-ordered a copy of the book.
The original APBR is still around, apbr.org, and apbr.org/forum for the discussion board (which uses the same software as this one, thank goodness; following discussions on boards and blogs is usually a huge headache especially when the postings and replies come several days or even weeks apart, but the software used on this site makes it easier to follow threads and see when old discussions have been resurrected). The original APBR is less quant-oriented than this group of course. |

Robert - any chance of including a CD-ROM or other type of electronic access to the book? |

No plans at this time Gabe, but who knows what the future holds. A downloadable file or CD-ROM is certainly a possibility.
And what Mike says is true, I started the APBR in 1997 (while working on the first edition of my book) and contributed much of the information that you see on the APBR.org web site to get it started.
A couple of years ago after a decade of running it I passed the stewardship of the group over to Ray LeBov, who serves as Executive Director, while I am now President Emeritus, helping Ray out whenever needed.
While I do visit the board here, I don't post that frequently because my area of research is much more history than statistical analysis in nature. _________________ Robert Bradley
