I was measuring Andrea Bargnani’s Rebound Rate (RbR) in Euroleague play 2 years ago, and ended up with a rate of 23.0. Knowing that he’s a weak rebounder, I was surprised. First, because he’s known to be a weak rebounder and, second, because a 23.0 rate equals the one put up by Reggie Evans.

My question is does a 40-minute game in Europe has any bearing on the RbR formula?

For confirmation, here are the numbers (I may have screwed up the formula in Excel):
Formula: (TRB*(TmMP/5))/(MP*(TmTRB+OppTRB))*100
TRB = 74
TmMP = 3650
MP = 201
TmTRB = 567
OppTRB = 601

RbR is a % of available rebounds, so Min/G has no bearing.

Did he really only average 11.2 MPG? If so, then his RbR = 23.0

An alternative RebRt, scaling only to OppReb, would be 22.4 -- still very high.

Do other players seem to be predominantly above 10.0 (which is average) ?

Thanks Mike, you led me to the source of the problem. The spreadsheet screwed up the number of minutes played. I was using the format hh:mm:ss and the calculation was wrong because of a rogue cell.

His actual minutes are 381, which gives me an RbR of 12.14.
