There&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bryanko01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Kobe  Bryant<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kiddja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Jason  Kidd<\/a> (who&#8217;s sort of playing like a 2), <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">LeBron  James<\/a>, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duranke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Kevin  Durant<\/a>&#8230;. and no one else in the same ballpark. They are all in the plus 6 to plus 7 range, while there are no other wings above +3.5 (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/leonaka01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Kawhi  Leonard<\/a>). Just a massive gap.<\/p>\n<p>Other interesting notes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The elite players have separated from the pack, for the most part.\u00a0 The players above +5 ASPM: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/paulch01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Chris  Paul<\/a>, LeBron  James, Jason  Kidd, Kevin  Durant, Kobe  Bryant, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duncati01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Tim  Duncan<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/westbru01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Russell  Westbrook<\/a>, and&#8230; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/conlemi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Mike  Conley<\/a>.\u00a0 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lowryky01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Kyle  Lowry<\/a> just misses the +5 mark, but no one else is above +4.3 (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/chandty01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Tyson  Chandler<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Kevin  Durant and LeBron  James are neck-and-neck right now, both dominant.\u00a0 LeBron is a hair better per minute, KD is playing a few more minutes.\u00a0 Versus last year, LeBron has dropped quite a bit, from +8.8 to +7.0, while KD has risen from +5.1 to +6.8 ASPM.<\/li>\n<li>Exploring the position vs. ASPM chart, by team&#8211;the Detroit Pistons are ridiculously lopsided.\u00a0 They have two very good centers (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/drumman01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Andre  Drummond<\/a> and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/monrogr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Greg  Monroe<\/a>) and nobody even remotely decent in the backcourt.<\/li>\n<li>Memphis, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City, on the other hand, are very balanced across the whole positional spectrum, with good to great players everywhere on the floor.<\/li>\n<li>Lonely superstars on poor teams: Kyle  Lowry and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/v\/varejan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Anderson  Varejao<\/a> (though <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/i\/irvinky01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Kyrie  Irving<\/a> is coming along).<\/li>\n<li>If you neglect Jason  Kidd, there is a very tight race for second-best shooting guard in the league behind Kobe: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/wadedw01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Dwyane  Wade<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hardeja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">James  Harden<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/ginobma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Manu  Ginobili<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/allento01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Tony  Allen<\/a>, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/allenra02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Ray  Allen<\/a>, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/martike02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Kevin  Martin<\/a> are all very close, though their skillsets vary widely.<\/li>\n<li>Rookie of the year is a three-horse race: <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/davisan02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Anthony  Davis<\/a>, Andre  Drummond, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lillada01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&#038;utm_source=direct&#038;utm_medium=linker-godismyjudgeok.com\">Damian  Lillard<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have added another pane to my 2012-13 ASPM\/VORP Tableau Visualization, allowing a better look at the distribution of talent across positions in the NBA.
