I have significantly altered the Player Stats Search on my site. Long story short, I thought I was getting a little too cute with the Ajaxy stuff. Now you can:
1) Bookmark searches.
2) Use the back button to return to your search if you followed a link away from the search results.
3) Filter and sort by advanced stats such as PER and Win Shares.
By default the basic stats such as G, MP, FG, FGA, etc. are displayed in the results. If you filter or sort by any advanced stats, they will be displayed in the results as well.
Some sample searches:
Overall #1 draft picks in the 1980s sorted by career Win Shares
Chicago Bulls rookies with at least 500 minutes played sorted by PER
NBA teenagers sorted by points per game
I hope you enjoy these changes. If you find any bugs or have any questions, please let me know. I will be modifying the other Full Court tools in the near future. _________________ Regards,

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll just mention here that I have improved the Player Comparison Machine as well. _________________ Regards,

Justin, there seems to be a problem with the search page. This is the result of the "Chicago Bulls rookies with at least 500 minutes played sorted by PER" search:
"500 - Internal Server Error
We apologize, but there is likely a problem with a cgi script.
Please e-mail the webmaster if you believe something is in error."
I tried it yesterday and came away impressed, anyway. ˇFantastic work!
Thank you very much. |

Drat, database problems on the server beyond my control. I'll post a note on the site. _________________ Regards,

This is awesome, thanks Justin.
Do you have any plans to incorporate a similarity score into this tool? That would be really fun too. |

Hate to beat a dead horse, but the per xx minutes thing: it's 48 on the comparer and 40 on the player pages. I don't really care which, but it would be great to have consistency. |

Well, as it is now, the Player Comparison Machine lets you take any two player-seasons and shows their stats side-by-side, which is great. But what if you also could display the similarity score of the two seasons when you call them up in the PCM? For instance, if I compared LeBron James 06-07 to Grant Hill 99-00, I'd get their stats side-by-side, but I'd also know that their sim score was 958 -- and perhaps you could even give the similarity ranking for each player as well (in this example, Grant Hill's 2000 ranked as the #1 most similar season to LeBron's 2007, and vice-versa). |
