I wanted to check in, because I have not posted for awhile. The main reason is because I now have a new job working for . . . . the White House.

I took an 11-month leave of absence from UNC-Greensboro to work as a senior economist for labor issues for the White House Council of Economic Advisers. My wife, two-year old son, and I have moved up to Washington D.C. (actually to the Court House metro stop in Arlington, VA) until the end of May 2008.

This position came completely out of the blue and is a real honor, especially considering that I haven't worked on policy issues much the last couple of years. But it is not hard getting back into the swing of working on policy issues and in a lot of ways my work on basketball issues has been a great preparation for this. I am getting to meet lots of really smart people (my boss is going to Camp David this weekend), and I will be 20 times more efficient after I finish this job.

I can still help out the Cavs, but my time is more limited. The Cavs, by the way, have been very accomodating with this.

Good luck, Dan. Don't be a stranger to the WoW wars.

Congrats, Dan, and all the best. I'm sure your experience on this job will make you an even better basketball analyst.

Great for you, Dan.
Maybe the Cavs will be posing with the Prez next year, and you will be at the epicenter.

This is clearly good, both for the nation and for the other 29 teams. Smile

Seriously, though, huge congrats and good luck dan.
