Ive read a couple of featured articles on defense and in a supporting argument for Shane Battier it said something along the lines of him leading the league in charges drawn. So I know somebody has them, anyone know where I could find these numbers? |

Is there any good reason why charges drawn isn't kept as an official stat. Just not enough room on the boxscore? |

Thanks again, I wonder if Shane leads the league this year. |

Indeed one could make the case that fouls drawn should become a regular stat. In box scores the stat head should be "DF" right next to the traditional "PF". But why limit it to offensive fouls drawn - is there any reason not to show all fouls drawn. (One distinction is, if I understand the rules correctly: offensive fouls don't count in the team's fouls-to-give calculation, is that right.) Then if you want, subdivide it into offensive and defensive and any other desired subcategories.
Notice that the NBA play-by-plays on ESPN.com already list the player who drew the foul in the same entry as the player who committed the foul, whereas the play-by-plays on NBA.com and aol.com, for instance, only list the latter. Even on ESPN.com, however, they don't show DF's in the box scores, at least not yet.
