You raise an interesting point, albeit in a roundabout way.
A blocked shot in today's game counts as a missed FGA. Was it the same back then? If so, and given the fact that fouls were called much more conservatively back then, perhaps blocks were just that much more common. |

Too bad that so many games of the 60's are probably lost. Some time ago I read something about the nba that had a contract with a company that would inventarise all old games and make it available to the public.
