Does anyone know if John will still be writing basketball columns for the New York Sun?

My guess is no... which is too bad for us New Yorkers without Insider accounts....

My guess is yes. I'm the other NBA guy at the Sun, and no one has said word one to me about writing more than my current once a week rotation.
It's not as if they have hockey news to fill up the pages either.

I don't know if everyone's seen John's latest at Insider:

Thus, rather than using a player's nominal shooting percentage, the way to measure shooting effectiveness is to use what I call a player's True Shooting Percentage (TS%) – adjusted for 3-pointers and free throws. That way, we can properly measure players who get an extra point for their long jumpers or extra free throws from their drives to the basket.

Nice step for this community, which made the decision to go with TS%. And kudos to John, if he's reading, for being so flexible to get everyone on the same page despite the fact that there are three years of his books out there with PSA, not TS%.

Funny ... it turns out that what helped tip us off to John's new gig actually had nothing to do with it.

As you can probably tell, I've been experiencing technical difficulties. Thanks to the efforts of a few yahoos (I think they spell it with an exclamation point though), the site went down a couple of weeks ago.

Fortunately, the information at AlleyOop.com is probably not lost.

If the FBI starts circling around Michael Olowokandi's house, we'll know why.
