These are Nash stats by the way, it says Passing Stats and says he has 12 3pt assists, 13 jump assist etc but what do they all meen. They cant be seasonal avg or even per 48 minute avg.
And the rest of the stats are confusing too |

I think they're just raw totals. He has 47 assists this year, and 12 of those were on teammates' threes, 13 were on two-point jumpers, 16 were close shots, and 6 were dunks. |

They are season total.

I think I can explain any of them except Pass Rating, Block Rating, and Hands Rating. No idea how that are calculated. |

What, it's not obvious what a "hands rating" is?
You mean something like "Rebooftt 137%" isn't intuitively clear?
The truth is of course that 82games does an absolutely lousy job of explaining things or even providing a modest glossary.
The block/hands/passing ratings were all really just placeholders for a later time when more thought would go into the number and it would have better significance...that was admittedly over four years ago now though with little likelihood of an imminent update.
Frankly I don't remember what the formulas are and I'd have to go dig around in the code, but since they were like ten seconds worth of effort to conjure up I wouldn't worry too much about them. As I recall there was a thread on this board a while ago on passing that I did post the ratings scheme and a leaderboard so maybe a search would find that.
On a more upbeat note there are some pretty cool research articles in the works by outside contributors which should be showing up on the site down the line. |
