Can anyone point me to a source for second chance and fastbreak points? I would like it for the 2006-07 season, and also a tally for the current season if its available.

Thanks.

There are no sites that provide totals for those stats that I know of. Some sites provide them in their boxscores, but you would have to go game by game and total them up ( http://www.countthebasket.com/boxscoresguide.htm ). FoxSports does have current season totals for points off turnovers at this link if you're interested in that.

Harvey Pollack's statistical yearbooks do have team totals for fastbreak points and second chance points, and the guides from the last two years can be downloaded. However, the latest guide with 06-07 stats is not yet available online - the ones available have the stats from 05-06 and 04-05. If you're interested, you could download the first section, which contains the table of contents, and then download the sections containing the relevant pages.

I forgot that 82games had an article listing fast break points for 06-07:

Isn't there a web site that has this totaled for each team?

It appears STATS LLC compiles 2nd chance points but apparently for the use and maybe limited use of their paying customers such as newspapers. I say this because I have found a number of cases of newspaper articles via google search that mention 2nd chance points for a specific team with a STATS citation but I have not seen any public display of a league summary. Perhaps that would require a more expensive license to use all the data instead of for just one team? Is there a restriction preventing the posting of a table or just a lack of desire to do so? I don't know the story.

2nd chance points might be in official nba.com online media guides by team, if they still update them. You could check there. I think I saw that stat there in the past but you would have to hunt for the full list.

A programmer with sufficient motivation could independently pull it from the play by play files or perhaps boxscores but I haven't seen anyone who has done that yet.

I have the data but could not -yet- figure out a way to make it happen.

Speaking of fastbreak points, here it is: http://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/fastbreak-points-per-game
