I am trying to find seasonal trends data on the NBA so far without success. Monthly league-wide data or weekly leaguewide data would be the answer, I suppose. The main thrust of my curiosity has to do with the increase (or decrease-whichever it may be) of production and numbers over the course of a typical year in the NBA. In other words, Does production go up over the course of the year? If I were to guess, I would guess so, since teams working together over the course of a year should improve statistically. And with new players on the roster at the beginning of the year, it seems to me statistics would lag early a little compared to midseason or late season...Thanks for any information in advance

Your best bet might be to start with the daily snapshots from Doug's Stats:

http://dougstats.com/trd/
http://dougstats.com/rd/

I don't have a link to those up on Count The Basket but they will be added soon (a big update is coming).

Those will give you team (or player) totals up to that point in the season, which you could sum to get league totals. To get breakdowns by month or week you'd then have to subtract earlier totals from later totals.

There are also several sites that have team and player stats broken down by month (see the Team Splits and Player Splits sections on my site), which you could compile and sum.

Thanks for the links, Eli W. Great stuff...I really like the Hoops Stats site. I needed to get a feel for who might come out hot this year. Also, NBA.COM is having a stock market. 82 plays at each of 9 positions, and I was wondering if it would be wise to play it cool early. It's opening night, and I still don't have a philosophy (I have 7 players none of which play tonight although HOU LAL matchup interests me), but I'm sure I'll find a way to use all the plays...Thanks again
